About the photo:
Curtain Call
Pershing Auditorium (now closed), Lincoln, NE
“I love the electricity of live performance, from dive bar music to opera and theater. The anticipation of waiting for the huge, thick, velvet curtains that hang over stages to lift and start the performance is probably why I have an obsession with velvet as a textile. I made this photo during a visit to Lincoln, Nebraska to visit my beloved friends, Becki and Amy. We spent a fabulous night cheering for Amy’s daughter Grace, a.k.a. “Doll Face”, in a raucous junior roller derby bout at the (now-closed) Pershing Auditorium where this curtain once hung.” - Krista
